Coaches, including myself, routinely recommend core strength training to improve athletic performance and reduce the risk of injury. There is increasing published research that shows core strength training does improve athletic performance and may decrease the likelihood of injury while training and racing. In this article I will present some examples of this scientific research. Just a reminder that club dues are due for 2009. The pool is located in the lower level of the facility. We will have the entire 25 meter pool! Event Date: 10/23/2008 - 19:00 Shawn Sherman from Peak Performance will be presenting for our October clinic. Peak Performance, LLC is the first facility in Illinois to specialize in Muscle Congratulations Kelly on finishing IM Wisconsin! Congratulations Jessica, Glenn, Steve, and MJ on finishing the Great Illini 1/2 IM. We will be riding this Sunday from Loca Mocha in Brookfield. The group is leaving at 7:00 -- note the new start time. I am thinking about a ride out to Fermi. Post on the forum if you will be joining. Sally Event Date: 06/18/2008 - 18:30 The first SCTC Open Water Swim (OWS) will take place on Wednesday June 18th at 6:30 p.m. We will be swimming from Promontory Point. The official start time for Sunday group rides is 6:30 a.m. sharp. When: Saturday May 3 Event Date: 05/18/2008 - 18:00 On Sunday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m. we will have a brief meeting to discuss clinics and then the rest of the evening will be for socializing. This event will take place at Irish Times. This is a social event, please feel free to bring your spouse/significant other. |
